The game features a broadened free-roaming open world web-slinging around Manhattan and the central story follows Spider-Man as he confrontates a variety of villains from the 2014 movie. With the expectation of a great reception, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was met favorable reviews and was declared «an enjoyable and entertaining experience» by several gaming magazines. Initially released in April 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, iOS and Windows PC the game was later released in June 2014 for the newly released PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles. It is the installment of The Amazing Spider-Man series, and is developed by Beenox and published by Activision.
